Golf: Schwab missed out on 21st place in Mexico

The Styrian, who started the final round in seventh place, played a mediocre round of 70 on Sunday and came into the clubhouse in 21st place with a total of 270 strokes (14 under par). Four bogeys on the “back-nine” prevented the 27-year-old from placing better. Russell Henley (USA/261) secured the victory.

Schwab had completed the second and third rounds without bogey and therefore justified his hopes for a top result. After two birdies on the “front nine” this seemed within reach. But on holes ten to twelve and later on hole 15, Rohrmooser lost four shots. Three more birdies prevented an even bigger relapse. Due to his weakest lap of the four days in Mexico, Schwab lost 14 places. The shared 21st place brought him the equivalent of around 84,000 euros in prize money.
