Complaints before FIFA of LGBTQI + activists for Qatar 2022

The protest in front of the FIFA Museum was led by the groups “All Out”, “Pink Cross”, “Swiss Lesbian Organization” and “Transgender Network Switzerland”.

The protesters played a mock game with “representatives” from FIFA and Qatar, the latter dressed in a police outfit. Then the members of this set chained themselves in front of the goal to prevent the LGBTQI+ team from scoring a goal and, at the end of the game, the players of the “FIFA team” took off their jackets, joined their rivals and together They celebrated a goal and kissed to defend “love and equality”.

“The idea is to encourage the teams that will play in the World Cup, the footballers and the sponsors to express your support for the rights of the LGBTQI+ community during the World Cup in Qatar,” explained Justin Lessner, a member of the “All Out” group.

The demonstrators expressed that “it is up to FIFA take responsibility and act accordingly to defend the rights of LGBTQI+ people in Qatar, not only from the fans who will travel to the World Cup, but from all the people who live in that country.

They further noted that “FIFA was extremely quiet about it” since they only recommended to the 32 participating teams in the World Cup that they “concentrate on football” and stop trying to give “moral lessons”.
