Striker Timo Werner is asked for an interview on the sidelines of the Formula 1 race in Spielberg. But then the reporter makes a mistake about which not only football fans joke in the end.
Fortunately, the FFP2 mask hid how much striker Timo Werner’s facial features had slipped away. Because when the British Sky reporter Natalie Pinkham interviews him at the Formula 1 race in Spielberg, she introduces Werner as the “goalkeeper of Chelsea and Germany”. Werner actually plays for the London club Chelsea, but – just like in the DFB team – as a striker. If she confused him with national goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, there would be the small problem that he is a goalkeeper, but known to be at Bayern Munich.
Timo Werner does not seem to have these thoughts because he deliberately ignores the mistake. He replied obediently to the initial question about his health: “I’m fine, thank you!” After the DFB team left the European Championship in 2021, he has time for Formula 1, although he would certainly have preferred to prepare for the semi-finals.
Pinkham’s lapse is a hit for football fans on social media. “Ari J” tweeted the short video excerpt and comments: “Quite a change in position for Werner in the coming season”. Pinkham also replies humorous on Twitter: “Breaking news: Werner confirms change of position” and decorates the tweet with a wink smiley.
It is not known whether and when Werner Pinkham approached her mistake or whether she noticed it herself. According to “Sportsbible.com”, she tweeted her joke about Werner’s change of position shortly after her mistake. And probably Werner was able to laugh about it after a moment of surprise. But that could not be seen behind his FFP2 mask.
