BVB: Clause in Mats Hummels’ contract deleted

The black and yellow can rely on Mats Hummels until summer 2023. This was previously questionable because of a clause, but it has been deleted.

The contract of national player Mats Hummels (32) with Borussia Dortmund runs after an adjustment in the summer until 2023. The confirmed BVB managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke im Sport1– “Double pass” on Sunday. He stated that in the defender’s working paper, which was originally dated to 2022, a clause had been deleted.

“Hummels originally had a clause in the contract that provides for an extension for a certain number of missions. We deleted that in the summer,” explained Watzke.

Mats Hummels returned from FC Bayern to BVB

He explained: “We thought it could not be that the duration of a leading player depends on the number of games played. Mats will be there until 2023.”

Hummels returned to Dortmund in 2019 for a € 30.5 million transfer fee from FC Bayern and has since taken on the role of defense chief. So far this season, the 2014 world champion has played five competitive games (one assist).
