Among its recitals, the norm stated that “joint presentations of venues allow the costs and risks of the event to be distributed among the member countries, improving the tourist and sports attractiveness of said event by presenting a broader offer that also favors regional integration and the cooperation between nations for future projects”.

On the other hand, he maintained that “being the host country of an event such as the World Cup allows the mobilization of public and private resources for the readaptation of the tourist and sports infrastructure, which transcends the event and becomes an asset for the benefit of society. all”.

The idea of ​​a joint bid for the 2030 World Cup initially came from Uruguay and Argentina, who were the finalists of the first World Cup held in 1930 in Montevideo.

In the bid for the organization of this emblematic edition, the South American countries will have to compete with Spain and Portugal, which recently also expressed the intention of adding Ukraine to their candidacy.

The definition of the venue for the 2030 World Cup will take place at the 74th FIFA Congress to be held in 2024, two years before the United States-Mexico-Canada 2026 event.
