ÖEHV team with no chance at 0:3 against Germany

The team of team boss Roger Bader had to admit defeat in Krefeld on Saturday with 0:3 (0:2,0:1,0:1) and was clearly inferior to the Germans. At the end on Sunday (11.00 / live ORF Sport +) against Denmark, Austria is still fighting for second place in the traditional tournament.

The Germans overwhelmed the Austrians with fast, precise combinations, good defense and strength in tackles. The brothers Andreas and Tobias Eder, each after a pass from Frederik Tiffels, made their superiority visible on the scoreboard after the first third. Andreas completed a nice move to take the lead (6th), Tobias made it 2-0 (18th) with a strong power play.

The Austrians cut a slightly better figure in the middle third, but found it difficult to create scoring chances against the compact defence. The Germans remained the better and more dangerous team. The strong ÖEHV goalkeeper David Kickert saved twice in the 23rd minute, but Danjo Leonhardt overcame him a third time (29th). Only in the final third did Lucas Thaler (45th) come closest to scoring a consolation goal for Austria.

Bader was nevertheless satisfied with the performance. “We played well to very well for 50 out of 60 minutes, we were able to keep up with the intensity and pace and were on an equal footing. The German victory is okay, the result is too high,” explained the team boss.

Germany is leading the table in the final game against Slovakia, in which the DEB team only needs one point to win the home tournament, just like last year.
