“In the past few weeks we’ve covered a lot of kilometers in top conditions. This weekend is just the right time to switch from training to racing mode,” says Johannes Rohrweck. Like his Upper Austrian colleagues Andrea Limbacher and Christina Födermayr, the Großraminger ski crosser is eager to start the season.
The competitions on the Pitztal Glacier are waiting for a top line-up next weekend, where the Austrian championship title will be contested on Saturday and European Cup points on Sunday. But the international competition is fierce, and for many nations the event serves as an important dress rehearsal for the start of the World Cup on December 8th and 9th, 2022 in Val Thorens (Fra). Olympic champion Ryan Regez from Switzerland will also be at the start.
The 33-year-old from Limbach, former world champion and by far the most experienced driver in the ÖSV team, is happy about the next generation. “The two boys are a great enrichment. We match each other properly,” says Sankt Konraderin about Junior World Champion Sonja Gigler and Innviertlerin Födermayr.
