Good conditions in Levi

16 teams used the creative break for training on the slopes in Levi. Among them were the Austrians on the one hand, but Mikaela Shiffrin also had a new experience for her. “It’s the first time that I’m training here before the races and I’m happy about it,” the American told the World Federation (FIS). Now she also has a little time to look around the town a little. Shiffrin has won Levi four times, Petra Vlhova even five times. On her break day, the Slovakian would like to visit the reindeer she received last year for her success, the usual prize there.

In the spring, 60,000 cubic meters of snow were stored for the races, and according to Vlhova it was worth it. “The conditions are good. The slope has everything a slalom course should have.” A year ago she won twice, ahead of Shiffrin and the German Lena Dürr. As the best Austrian, Katharina Liensberger was sixth and eighth. In 2020, the Vorarlberg native had finished third, and Vlhova had won twice there too. Shiffrin won one race in 2019, Katharina Truppe from Carinthia finished third, and Vlhova was eliminated.

The next planned women’s competitions are the women’s slaloms in Levi (Finland) on 19./20. November. Then the overseas stations wait, the women drive in Killington (USA) a giant slalom (November 26) and a slalom (November 27), before two downhill runs (December 2/3) and a Super-G (December 4).
