The 57-year-old from Lower Austria was hit by a train on the southern railway line on Wednesday. According to consistent media reports, the APA confirmed the death of the 20-time international.
Rodax began his professional career in 1983 with Admira Wacker. In 1990 he moved to Atlético Madrid, where he was runner-up alongside German Bernd Schuster and Portuguese Paulo Futre under coach Tomislav Ivić. In 1991 he returned to Austria and played for SK Rapid Wien until the end of his career in 1993. Since then he has run a tennis hall in Traiskirchen. In 1996 he started a comeback with Admira Wacker and reached the cup final with the team.
With the Austrian national team, he completed 20 international matches and scored three goals, one of them during his two games at the 1990 World Cup in Italy.
Rodax scored his most famous goal in a 3-2 win against Spain in 1990, when he outplayed several opponents.
