With the downhill on Friday and two Super-Gs on Saturday and Sunday, the speed specialists of the ski circus in Lake Louise are picking up speed. In the first training session, Daniel Hemetsberger underlined his currently very good form. Unteracher was the best ÖSV man in fourth place, immediately ahead of Otmar Striedinger. Vincent Kriechmayr took it easy with 35th place. Fastest of the day was local hero James Crawford.
Yesterday’s training was canceled due to the unfavorable weather forecast. The organizers will not take a break – they want to get the track in top shape. After the first practice, many drivers criticized it. Instead of the usual solid blue route markings, the curves were marked with a broken line. In addition, poor visibility conditions made it difficult for the downhill riders.
Hemetsberger had already demonstrated at the ÖSV training camp in Copper Mountain and won a top-class FIS downhill run there last week and took third place once.
