Faces of Football: Ghana – a letter to the national team

A letter to the Ghana national team for the 2022 World Cup.

Dear Ghana national team,

First of all, I would like to express my delight at qualifying again for a FIFA World Cup and congratulate everyone who made this great achievement possible. To all of you I say “ayekoo” (well done).

As an ambitious and optimistic Ghana fan, I firmly believe that you can go very far in this winter’s tournament. To be honest, I think you will at least make it through the group stage and from there possibly be the first African team to reach the semi-finals of a World Cup.

Having seen all your qualifiers and your previous World Cup performances, I really believe that you can make history this winter and prove that Ghana is the greatest African footballing nation.

I wish the coach and management well in looking after the team and I hope they make the wise tactical decisions needed to see our beloved country go far in this tournament. We wish the players themselves that they give their all to make history for Ghana.

All the people in the country will be cheering you on throughout the tournament. We hope that we can motivate you and drive you to success with our cheers.

Every Ghanaian dreams of winning the World Cup and showing the world how great we are as a nation. I firmly believe that you are the team that can do this.

I wish you all the best for the tournament! Go Black Stars, go!

Kind regards,

Mary Osei-Gyambrah
