In 2000, 2001 and 2002, the Design Center was already the venue for the Linz women’s tennis tournament. The “Upper Austria Ladies” is making a comeback there after 20 years in the TipsArena from February 5th to 12th, 2023.
“Lindsay still raves about the great atmosphere and the family atmosphere,” says tournament ambassador Barbara Schett, who lost in the quarterfinals to eventual tournament winner Lindsay Davenport in 2000. The following year, the American defended her title, and in 2002 ex-world number one Justine Henin won.
Organizer Sandra Reichel is already working hard on a top-class field of players. “There is an opportunity to upgrade and expand the content of the side events,” she explains, explaining one of the advantages of the move.
