LASK: Wiesinger has to go under the knife again

Wiesinger has to go under the knife again and will have an ankle operation today. But the break should be short. “Philipp recently took part in training sessions with the LASK amateurs, and he was in pain again. We decided that there would be another slight intervention to be on the safe side,” says LASK sports director Radovan Vujanovic. In the new year, however, the injury odyssey of the Salzburger should come to an end. Vujanovic: “We hope that he can join the second preparatory start in January.”

One or the other newcomer could also be there. “We want to get better, not worse.” It is not revealed which positions are being sought: “A year ago I promised a striker who then didn’t come. I won’t make that mistake again,” says Vujanovic with a smile. Local rivals SV Guntamatic Ried are also in friendly action: Coach Christian Heinle has to improvise against the Czech first division team Dynamo Budweis (2 p.m.), with Nikolas Stosic, Marcel Ziegl, David Ungar and Kingsley Michael four central midfielders missing due to injury. Yesterday, second division team Blau-Weiss Linz beat Oberhausklub WSG Tirol 4:3 (2:1).
