Pelé’s health: what is the state of health

Pele was admitted Tuesday to the Albert Einstein hospital for an evaluation of his colon cancer treatment. His respiratory infection was “treated with antibiotics,” according to the doctors.

On Thursday, on his Instagram account, Pelé indicated that it was a routine “monthly visit” and thanked all the people who had shown him support and sent best wishes and a speedy recovery.

“Thank you (…) to all those who send me good energy,” wrote the only footballer in history to have won three World Cups as a player (1958, 1962 and 1970).

Late on Saturday, the 82-year-old former player used the same social network to send a message of calm to reassure his followers: “I want to keep everyone calm. I am strong, with a lot of hope and I continue my treatment as always.”

The three-time world champion also thanked the messages of affection and added that they keep him “full of energy”, such as accompanying the ‘Canarinha’ in the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Pelé “follows the treatment and his state of health remains stable,” the doctors at the Albert Einstein Hospital reported earlier in a statement.

“He has also had a good response to care for the respiratory infection, without presenting any worsening in the clinical picture in the last 24 hours,” added the former soccer player’s medical team.
