That’s why Schalke separates from assistant coach Molinari

Schalke 04 has parted ways with assistant coach Beniamino Molinari. The background to his S04-Aus.

In the run-up to the second half of the season, Thomas Reis also cleans up the Schalke 04 coaching team. Another consequence: the club and assistant coach Beniamino Molinari are now going their separate ways.

With a new head coach comes change. In particular, of course, with regard to the team. As a rule, even larger changes are expected there, for example in the way of playing or in terms of the staff.

In the case of Schalke, however, changes to the coaching staff themselves were also necessary. Because Frank Kramer wasn’t allowed to bring his own assistant last summer and instead had to integrate himself into the existing team, which definitely failed, not only because of that, Thomas Reis was now allowed to bring Markus Gellhaus with him to Gelsenkirchen.

As a result, the team around the team became much too big – especially for the bank. So during the week it was decided that in addition to Mike Büskens, Matthias Kreutzer and Beniamino Molinari would also have to vacate their seats and move to the stands.

Termination of contract between Schalke and Molinari

Molinari will not start this move in the first place. As Royal Blue announced on Saturday, the club and the assistant coach are now going their separate ways.

The 42-year-old was later brought into the team by Kramer and linked to him in a corresponding way. Apparently Reis saw no advantage in further cooperation. Without his help or against his will, S04 would hardly have separated from him.

“A redistribution of tasks, as we have done in the coaching team, often includes personnel changes,” explained Peter Knäbel this step (via WAZ). “It was very important to Thomas to have a personal conversation with Beniamino and to explain the situation to him. […] We would like to thank him for his consistently professional and dedicated work.”

In short: The contract, which was actually dated until the summer of 2024, has been terminated, which means that the coaching team has been reduced somewhat. Molinari also thanks for the time together, which he will “keep in good memory”.
