Beyond his achievements, Tambay’s career was marked by being in control of fragile cars, mechanical problems -40 in 114 races- and repeated withdrawals, to which he had to add the trauma caused by the death of his friend Gilles Villeneuvewhom he had replaced at Ferrari after his tragic accident in 1982. In his second race with the Scudería de Maranello in Brands Hatch was 3rd and in Hockenheim He would achieve his first victory.

In 1983, Patrick Tambay won for the second time in San Marinowith the number 27 of the remembered Villeneuve and finished fourth in the championship, behind Nelson Piquet, Alain Prost and René Arnoux. After that, she ran to Renault and ended his F1 career with Haas in 1986.
