Left midfielder Marco Meilinger has been without a club since the summer. Most recently, the 31-year-old was under contract with SCR Altach and was associated with Oedt by other media.
The decision has now been made for the regional league club Vöcklamarkt. Omer Tarabic, the sporting director of Vöcklamarkter, confirms this when asked by OÖN. “We are extremely happy that Marco Meilinger has chosen Union Vöcklamarkt. The negotiations were very pleasant and uncomplicated. We agreed relatively quickly,” says Tarabic. The relatively short journey is pleasant for Meilinger. The former professional kicker lives in Seekirchen am Wallersee. “Marco Meilinger would now like to follow the path after his professional career, with us he has the perfect opportunities to do so,” says Tarabic and adds: “Meilinger’s contract runs beyond the summer. “We plan long-term with him.”
Relegation battle in the regional league
The people from Hausruckviertel can really use the experience and quality of Meilinger. After 15 games, the team has only 13 points and is in twelfth place in the relegation battle. Vöcklamarkt also sent another signal this week by extending the contract of goalkeeper Wolfgang Schober. The 33-year-old with Bundesliga and second division experience, who has been playing in Vöcklamarkt since 2015, has extended his contract by three more years until 2026. Marcel Rohrstorfer (27), who has played 301 competitive games for Vöcklamarkt, is also staying with the club. He extended his contract for two more years.
