Hamilton (37) started his Formula 1 career in 2007 at McLaren. In 2013, the Englishman switched to Mercedes as the successor to Michael Schumacher. With seven world titles each, the two drivers are record holders.
“Lewis’ contract is one of the issues we’re tackling over the winter,” Wolff continued. “But there is no fixed deadline.” Hamilton’s contract runs until the end of 2023. He has assured that he has “a lot of petrol left in the tank”. According to Wolff, Hamilton still has five more years in Formula 1.
“One of his strengths is that he’s always hungry,” said the Austrian about the 103-time Grand Prix winner. Hamilton went without a win for the first time in his career last season. His teammate is fellow Englishman George Russell.
