The 33-year-old shot clean and after 7.5 kilometers relegated the Czech Marketa Davidova, who had one penalty, to second place by 18.1 seconds. Third was Julia Simon from France (1 error / + 20.1 seconds). With that, the individual Olympic champion from Beijing created a perfect starting position for the pursuit on Saturday.
Franziska Preuss, Vanessa Voigt, Anna Weidel, Sophia Schneider and Juliane Frühwirt did not make it into the top 20.
