An Argentine did 10,000 km on a bicycle to reach Qatar

“I have been traveling by bicycle for more than 20 years, but the desert crossing was the hardest stage. That happened in the last three weeks, where I had to go through Saudi Arabia. It was the most complicated from a physical and mental point of view, but I managed to get through that stage well, which I also did alone,” said the man from Entre Ríos, interviewed by local media.

In this regard, he indicated that “there was a big sandstorm on the way, but the trip went according to plan, and the cordiality of the arabsbecause they stopped constantly to offer me water and food, which were my biggest concerns”.

silius clarifies that the trip by bicycle “is quite austere, you don’t spend too much. I don’t count the trade because, if I had stayed at home these months, I would still have had to spend, and also, many times I was lodged to sleep, since whether in family homes, in tents or on the beach. Every day is a new adventure to solve, but I’m used to doing it and I like it, because my passion is traveling by bicycle”.

“Having to navigate the Middle East, go through Syria, Palestine and Israel, all countries in conflict, makes planning different, with greater care, a hostile climate and more complex distances. But I had studied it and it came out better than expected,” he said.

In addition, he commented that he intended to enter Ukraine“but I couldn’t for reasons already known” and that instead “I stayed a few days working as a volunteer in a refugee center, helping many people who left there in search of a place to sleep, until I saw how they resolved their situation. It was a great satisfaction, one of the most emotional moments that I take from this journey. And to that I add that I was also able to get to my grandmother’s house, in Lebanon, which was where she was born and raised”.
