After the 2:3 defeat the day before, the ÖTTV team won 3:0 in Linz and now has the upper hand in a direct duel in the fight for the EM ticket. Amelie Solja celebrated a 3-0 win against Sabina Surjan. With the same result, European champion Sofia Polcanova won against Izabela Lupulesku and Liu Jia against Tijana Jokic.
The EM fifth of 2021 must at least be second in the group in order to fix the trip to Sweden in the coming year. The duel will continue in Luxembourg on December 19, the second leg will not take place until next year. A win is still needed for participation in the European Championship. “After the chaos in the first duel against Serbia, we were able to concentrate today. Now another win is enough for direct qualification. Today Solja’s success was decisive,” Polcanova summed up.
