Fabian Unterkircher scored both of the Austrians’ goals in Hamburg, who were already behind in the final. Unterkircher only contributed the winning goal in the last minute after a short corner, after which he was also named the best player of the tournament. His team had entered the final as group winners.
Austria’s top scorer Michael Körper got nothing this time. The physical play of the German team against bodies was striking. The Austrians had already defeated their final opponent 7:6 in the preliminary round and thus made it into the final. The ÖHV selection had lost the meaningless last group game against the Netherlands.
