The Scuderia poached the Frenchman from partner team Alfa Romeo to end the untitled period. He was “delighted and honored” to get what is probably the most difficult job in Formula 1, said Vasseur, who has been in motorsport for more than 25 years and has made a name for himself as a promoter of young talent: “I want our Tifosi all over the world deliver.”
The royal personalities among the team bosses have thus been clarified. But the interplay continues. Vasseur’s job will be taken over by Andreas Seidl, who comes from McLaren. The 46-year-old from Passau has led the British racing team since 2019 and has brought McLaren back to the extended top of Formula 1. However, the Sauber team currently operating under the Alfa Romeo name offers exciting prospects. Finally, Audi joins the Swiss racing team, and for the 2026 season, Sauber will start as an Audi works team.
There is already a successor for Seidl at McLaren: the team will be led by Andrea Stella with immediate effect. The Italian was previously race manager for the British.
