Ji-Sung Park got a song of its own from the Manchester United fans. But he doesn’t like the song at all and doesn’t want to hear it anymore.
Ji-Sung Park has urged Manchester United fans to stop singing the song dedicated to him. In the song, followers use the racist stereotype that people in parks, home of Korea, eat dog meat. “That word is very uncomfortable for Koreans,” said Park im UTD-Podcast.
“I urge fans to stop singing that word. It’s not nice for Koreans to hear this song. Now is the time to stop,” he said.
United fans last sang Park song in August
Park has not played for the Red Devils since 2012, but United supporters sang the song again at the Manchester game in Wolverhampton in August because the Wolves introduced another Korean as a newcomer, Hee-Chan Hwang. “I’m really sorry he had to hear this,” said Park. “I know the United fans didn’t mean to offend him, but I have to teach them not to use the word anymore because it’s a racial insult to all Koreans,” he added.
Manchester United stated that the club fully supports Park’s request and urges fans to act on his request.
