Most recently it was said that Andre Onana was about to move to Inter Milan. Now, however, his ex-club from Barcelona could apparently interfere.
FC Barcelona are apparently interested in bringing Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana back to Catalonia. This is reported by the Spanish sports newspaper Sports world.
Accordingly, Barca had informed the 25-year-old that they wanted to look after him in the summer of next year. With that, the Spaniards would probably thwart Inter Milan, the Italian champions should, according to the transfer expert Fabrizio Romano have already agreed with Onana on a change in 2022.
Andre Onana came to Barcelona when he was 14
The Cameroonian himself, who has served a doping ban since February and will be allowed to play again from November 4th, wants to take a closer look at the possibility of returning to Barcelona, according to the report. With Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Neto and Inaki Pena, Barca currently have three goalkeepers in their squad, whose contracts are each dated until at least 2023.
Onana’s contract with Ajax expires at the end of June 2022, so the Cameroonian national goalkeeper would then be available for free. In addition to Barca and Inter, Napoli, Atletico Madrid and Olympique Lyon are also said to be interested.
Onana switched to Barcelona’s youngsters in 2010 at the age of 14 and stayed for four and a half years, but never played a game for the Blaugrana first team. Instead, he moved from Barca’s U19 to Ajax Amsterdam in early 2015, where he developed into one of the best goalkeepers in Europe. To date, he has played a total of 204 competitive games for the Dutch.
