Cross-country skiing ace Teresa Stadlober adapted her training before the Tour de Ski, which begins today with sprints in Val Müstair. The woman from Salzburg had identified a lack in the faster area. “If it gets faster, I can’t keep up. If my body gets into the red zone, I just can’t do it. I have to shift down a gear immediately,” reported the Olympic bronze medalist in skiathlon about her recent racing experiences.
Now the 29-year-old is a bit more optimistic again, she is aiming for a top ten place in the seven-part tour, the first highlight of the season. “The whole thing wasn’t easy for me mentally either. It’s important that the health check went well. A few days of rest around Christmas did me good, too,” said Stadlober. Now she goes back into attack mode.
