Bundesliga club RB Leipzig will travel to the training camp in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates on Monday without his most dangerous attacker, Christopher Nkunku.
As it became known on New Year’s Day, the 25-year-old will remain in Paris to be treated for his torn external ligament. It was there that Nkunku sustained the injury at the French national team’s training camp in preparation for the World Cup.
On the other hand, the German internationals Timo Werner and David Raum are on the Leipzig plane. However, both will initially continue their individual rehabilitation and will gradually be introduced to team training. Werner is currently recovering from a syndesmosis ligament tear, Raum has been suffering from an ankle injury since the holiday.
Croatian international Josko Gvardiol, who finished third at the World Cup with his team, has been granted special leave and will not join the team until January 8th.
In total, RB is traveling to Abu Dhabi with 24 professionals and seven youngsters, where the first training session is scheduled for Monday evening (7 p.m.). Two friendlies are planned for January 11th, opponents and time have not yet been determined.
