Arsenal break away

Arsenal FC continues to show no weaknesses in the English Premier League title race. The Gunners extended their lead over Manchester City to seven points with a 4-2 win at Brighton & Hove. The “Skyblues” did not get more than a 1-1 draw against Everton at home despite the overwhelming superiority.

Erling Haaland’s 21st championship goal of the season didn’t change that (24th). ManCity had 74 percent possession and 16:2 shots. Everton’s only shot on goal found its way into the net, Demarai Gray scoring in the 64th minute to make it 1-1. That’s called efficiency.

City coach Pep Guardiola quarreled with the referee team around Andrew Madley, who distributed a total of seven yellow cards. “It’s a strategy for the opponent to foul us. If the referee doesn’t do anything about it, I can’t intervene either.” Haaland had been properly tapped out by Ben Godfrey – and let his frustration run wild with a rude entry against Vitaliy Mykolenko. The Norwegian saw yellow for that, but it could also have been red.

Leeds United, who are courting Salzburg defender Maximilian Wöber, were lucky enough to draw 0-0 away from Newcastle.
