“Nevertheless, we still have to wait for the next few days and talk to the doctors more closely before an exact rehabilitation plan is drawn up. But I definitely hope to have the full range of motion quickly,” said Trauner shortly before the operation. Normally, no crutches are necessary after such an operation. He has done everything in the past few days to get rid of the swelling and train the muscles to prepare for the operation. Trauner: “The better you go into an operation like this, the easier it is to come out of it. I didn’t have any pain before the operation either because I didn’t run or turn.”
Even if the injury happened before the Christmas holidays, Trauner was lucky not to have to be operated on later. “Our doctor at Feyenoord, a proven knee specialist, is actually on vacation until January 10. Now he has flown in so I don’t have to wait another week. I’m very happy that I got this appointment.”
There is (almost) no time to come to Upper Austria. “Maybe for a short therapy session to stop everything with my confidants. Otherwise I’ll concentrate fully on the comeback in the Netherlands,” says Trauner. However, it is clear that it will only be enough for the spectator role at the beginning of the spring season.
