Ski jumping: Kubacki won in Innsbruck ahead of tour leader Granerud

The Pole won the Bergisel jumping on Wednesday ahead of the Norwegian, who maintained his comfortable lead in the overall tournament ranking. Granerud goes into the final Epiphany competition on Friday (4.30 p.m./live ORF 1) in Bischofshofen with a cushion of 23.3 points. As the best Austrian, Stefan Kraft finished fourth.

After the victories in Oberstdorf and Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Granerud was 26.8 points ahead of Kubacki and, thanks to an excellent second jump, kept almost the entire, large lead. The 26-year-old jumped from sixth to second place with the day’s maximum jump of 133 meters and has excellent chances of becoming the first Norwegian to win the tour since Anders Jacobsen in 2006/07.

In front of 18,700 fans and in mild temperatures of seven degrees, the Austrians showed a strong team performance, just like they did at the New Year’s competition. Kraft finished fourth, 10.2 points behind Slovenia’s Anze Lanisek, who is third overall. Michael Hayböck (7th), Daniel Tschofenig (8th) and Jan Hörl (9th) also finished in the top ten. Manuel Fettner was 15th. Philipp Aschenwald was 31st and missed the second round, Clemens Leitner was disqualified in the first round because his suit was too big.
