Former Italy goalscorer Vialli dies aged 58

This was announced by the Italian news agency ANSA on Friday. The striker was first diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2017, and the disease returned last year.

The former striker was the head of the delegation for the Italian national team from 2019 and was also the assistant to team boss Roberto Mancini. The two former teammates had led Italy to the European title in 2021. In mid-December, Vialli took time off to treat his cancer, which he has now succumbed to.

Vialli had a great career with Sampdoria Genoa, Juventus Turin and Chelsea, capturing 59 caps (16 goals).
