As the World Federation (FIS) announced on Tuesday, the downhill run (January 28) and a giant slalom (January 29) on the Kandahar cannot be carried out due to the snow conditions and an unfavorable weather forecast. A replacement is being worked on.
The weather had already caused numerous cancellations and postponements in the current World Cup season. Like the parallel races in Lech/Zürs, the downhills in Zermatt/Cervinia could not be held. The women’s giant slalom planned for Sölden was made up for in Semmering shortly before the turn of the year, while the men contested only one of the two planned Super-Gs in Lake Louise. In addition, the Super-G in Val Gardena could not be held and the descent from Beaver Creek to Val Gardena was relocated. The second women’s slalom in Zagreb was recently canceled.
