On the shortened route due to 20 centimeters of fresh snow overnight, the Swiss set a best time of 1:46.40 seconds in the first practice session for the Ski World Cup downhill in Wengen. Daniel Hemetsberger was the fastest Austrian in seventh place (+0.87 seconds), Vincent Kriechmayr was still holding back.
He drove with the fastest in the first two sectors and then parked. The Lauberhorn winner of 2019 and 2022 finally finished 31st, 2.04 seconds behind. “A dream setting,” the Upper Austrian rejoiced at the wintry scene in Switzerland.
