It’s often easier to train together
In order to optimally prepare for the Linz Marathon, there have been weekly running meetings for many years, accompanied by experienced running coaches. It’s already this Saturday when interval training is on the agenda for the exercise session organized by the main sponsor Oberbank with ex-professional Gerhard Hartmann. Meeting point is at 9 a.m. at the Intertrading car park. A week later, on January 21st, the popular LIVA running group (meeting point Fitnessoase Parkbad, 9 a.m.) takes place, where a slow endurance run is held in groups (according to the respective running speed). This free service will be offered every week thereafter until the race weekend. All information at www.linzmarathon.at
Everyone will find the right “seven league boots” here
In cooperation with Intersport Winninger, which also organizes the Expo on the marathon weekend, a running shoe test will be held in the TipsArena on Friday, February 3rd. Well-known companies such as Salomon, Hoka, Brooks, ON Running, Polar heart rate monitors and Under Armor will present their products. You can test the shoes on the track in the TipsArena, but also outdoors. All test participants will receive a voucher worth 20 euros for running shoes at Intersport Winninger. Pre-registration on the marathon website is requested.
A lactate test provides important information
The Marchtrenker sports doctor Ronald Ecker is himself an enthusiastic runner and offers a lactate test on February 3rd as part of the running shoe test with the Upper Austria Running Competence Center. At 3 p.m., 3.45 p.m. and 4.30 p.m., small groups will be sent out on the TipsArena running track at the specified pace. After each step, the heart rate is documented and the lactate is measured (from the earlobe). “In this way you can define the training zones with pinpoint accuracy and train optimally,” says Ecker. Registration via email hoerschlaeger@roneck-sportmed.at necessary.
European champion wrestler is available to answer questions
Richard Ringer already has his sights set on the 2024 Olympic marathon in Paris. The reigning European champion over the 42.195 kilometers wants to set the standard for this in the spring. But before that happens, the German will be honored with the kick-off event for the Linz marathon on January 26 (admission from 6:30 p.m.). Ringer will be interviewed by Günther Weidlinger, the sporting director, and running legend Gerhard Hartmann in a roundtable discussion in the Oberbank Donau-Forum. Ringer’s running career is remarkable. When he’s not preparing for a major event, the 33-year-old business administration graduate works as a controller. Registration for the free event at www.linzmarathon.at
Early registration guarantees a place and even more focus
As of today’s deadline, January 13, the first entry period for the 21st edition has already expired. Until then, the conditions of the heavily discounted registration still apply. Those who fix their participation also then work towards this goal in a completely different way. “That has a very decisive advantage mentally, because with a binding entry you confirm that you really want something and are working towards it with full focus,” says Austria’s former top runner Gerhard Hartmann. You can also make a collective report for several participants. A declaration of consent from the legal guardian is required for persons under the age of 18 to take part in the competitions on Sunday.
For the amount of 10 euros, the personal time and name will be engraved on the finisher medal. When you register online, you have the option of booking the engraving at the same time, so no cash is required on site.
The second entry deadline is then February 10th.
The marathon team will be happy to answer any questions you may have at linzmarathon@liva.linz.at.
