The racing team announced this on Friday. The 43-year-old replaces Jost Capito, who resigned in December. Vowles will join the team on February 20th ahead of Bahrain testing (February 23-25). The World Championships start on March 5th in Sakhir.
“It’s an honor to join a team with such a rich heritage. The team is an icon of our sport,” said Vowles, who has been in Formula 1 for 21 years and has helped win nine constructors’ titles.
The Briton has already worked for the Mercedes predecessors British American Racing (BAR), Honda and Brawn GP in Brackley. Williams, which uses Mercedes engines, finished last in the constructors’ championship in 2022 and has not won a race since 2012.
