LASK defeated Vorwarts Steyr 5:1 at the start of the test match

LASK started the first test game of the year without Branko Jovicic, Keito Nakamura and Filip Stojkovic, who were not used due to precautionary measures. The athletes quickly became dangerous: Left winger Adil Taoui served Marin Ljubicic, who was in the center and forced SKV keeper Eres to make a save (1st). Linzer then let the ball run confidently in their own ranks and repeatedly set accents in the direction of the forward box. In the tenth minute it was a set piece that gave the lead: Florian Flecker took a corner kick from the right in the direction of the second post, where Adil Taoui lurked and was able to push in unhindered – 1:0.

LASK made another good move in the 19th minute: the ball passed through Robert Zulj and Marin Ljubicic to Adil Taoui, who failed at the goalkeeper from close range. The following corner again put Taoui just wide of the goal. The second division team from Steyr was unable to free themselves from Linz’s grip for long stretches and finally sought salvation with a long-range shot – with success: Captain Alem Pasic took heart from almost 25 meters and scored the equalizer with the guests’ first shot on goal from the inside rod (29th).

LASK also reacted with long-range shots, but Marin Ljubicic (33rd) and Sascha Horvath (36th) could not overcome the SKV goalkeeper. Attempt number three was finally successful, Nemanja Celic pocketed the ball from the edge of the penalty area to take the lead again (41′).

LASK expands leadership

Except for Florian Flecker, LASK entered the field completely renewed in the second half. After almost ten minutes, Husein Balic came to an end in the penalty area, his shot went too central (56th). Fifteen minutes later, Linz finally made it 3-1: Peter Michorl hit an exemplary interface pass to his midfield colleague Marco Kadlec, who coldly turned the ball into the far post in the penalty area (72′). Shortly thereafter, Husein Balic danced out several opponents in the penalty area and scored the fourth LASK goal of the day (74th).

Efthymios Koulouris made it 5-1 in the 82nd minute: Florian Flecker tried a flick from the left corner of the penalty area, which the forward keeper directed to the post. But the Black and Whites’ Greek center forward was there and easily converted the rebound. “Against a low-lying opponent like Steyr, you have to find solutions. The boys did well today. In view of the fact that we have trained very hard in the last two weeks, I am very satisfied with today’s performance,” says LASK trainer Didi Kühbauer.

The next test for LASK is on Tuesday against Kapfenberg (2 p.m., Raiffeisen Arena Pasching), before the ten-day training camp in Belek on Thursday.
