With another furious performance, the Norwegian ski racer Aleksander Aamodt Kilde made the double victory in Wengen perfect. After the Super-G, the 30-year-old also won the shortened downhill.

At the finish he was a clear 0.88 seconds ahead of his permanent rival, the overall World Cup leader Marco Odermatt from Switzerland. Third was the Italian Mattia Casse (+1.01 seconds). For Kilde it was the 19th World Cup success and the sixth this season.

German weak

The German speed specialists clearly missed the top ten on the Lauberhorn. Romed Baumann, who was serenaded by the fans in the finish area on his 37th birthday, finished 16th. Thomas Dreßen, who made his comeback after an injury break of several weeks, finished 23rd. Josef Ferstl, Andreas Sander and Dominik Schwaiger finished 24th , 38 and 43. He had fun, said Dreßen. “Of course, one or the other passage was very wrong,” he analyzed. Overall, however, he is on the right track.

Swiss Olympic champion Beat Feuz, who will retire after next weekend’s races in Kitzbuhel, finished fifth at his last home World Cup.

Due to strong winds in the upper section, the athletes started from the reserve start. Instead of about 4.5, the race was only about three kilometers. A slalom is still on the agenda in Wengen on Sunday.
