At the 2021 World Cup venue in Cortina d’Ampezzo, a triple with two downhill runs and a Super-G is on the program from today (10.15 a.m.) to Sunday. Tickets are still available for Meribel in the ÖSV team without a win so far.
Cortina is just right for Ramona Siebenhofer, Tamara Tippler and Nicole Schmidhofer. Siebenhofer in particular has always achieved top results on the 2660 meter long Olympia delle Tofane. Last year she only had to let Italy’s speed queen Sofia Goggia go first. And in 2019 the Styrian celebrated her only World Cup victories in a downhill doubles. “In Cortina I know how to be quick,” said Siebenhofer. However, Goggia delivered a show of power in yesterday’s final training session and set the best time.
Mikaela Shiffrin could take decisive steps in the overall World Cup after Petra Vlhova only returns at Kronplatz. The American recently skipped the St. Anton races and did well in both Cortina training sessions. Shiffrin’s lead is already 399 points (Vlhova), Lara Gut-Behrami follows in third place, 559 points behind.
Downhill training in Cortina d’Ampezzo: 1. Goggia (Ita) 1:35:00 min., 2. Wright (USA) +0.19 sec., 3. Mowinckel (Nor) +0.49, 4. Shiffrin (USA ) +0.61, 5. Gut-Behrami (Sz) +0.80; 15th Venier (Austria) and Ortlieb (Austria) +1.70, 30th Tippler (Austria) +1.74, 21st Puchner (Austria) +1.79, 22nd Maier (Austria) +1.84, 23rd .Ager (A) +1.86
