The 29-year-old took the lead at half-time with a jump of 139.0 m and successfully defended it with a lead of 5.6 points over Norwegian Halvor Egner Granerud. It is Kraft’s 27th individual World Cup victory, the second of the season after November in Ruka. With Daniel Tschofenig (5th) and Manuel Fettner (6th), two other ÖSV players made it into the top 10.
It was Kraft’s fourth Sapporo win, having won twice in 2019 and once in 2020. The ski flying world record holder in the Japanese Olympic city of 1972 made it onto the podium eight times. In the Friday competition, the world champion was the only Austrian in the top ten in fifth place, Ryoyu Kobayashi celebrated a home win. Another competition is scheduled for Sunday (2:00 a.m. CET).
