FC Barcelona is grappling with an immense mountain of debt. Apparently, unbelievable premium payments are also responsible for this.
FC Barcelona has apparently showered its professionals under ex-president Josep Maria Bartomeu with unbelievable bonuses. That comes from a report by RAC1 emerged.
The Spanish radio station revealed the content of contracts for two unnamed players. Accordingly, Barca professionals received around eleven million euros if they played at least half of all season games.
Barca professionals probably received 1.2 million euros for the CL knockout phase
Experts reportedly received 1.2 million euros for reaching the knockout phase in the Champions League and 3.6 million euros for winning the triple. In addition, players would have received up to 15 million euros extra for contract extensions.
Barca’s mountain of debt now stands at an unbelievable 1.35 billion euros, as club boss Juan Laporta confirmed in August: “Bartomeu plugged short-term holes by mortgaging the club on a long-term basis. That left us with a dramatic legacy.”
Barcelona’s new general manager Ferran Reverter recently added: “If the club had been a public company, it would have been dissolved.”
Barca: false start in LaLiga and Champions League
In the league, the team of the controversial coach Ronald Koeman is currently only ninth. The gap to leaders Real Madrid is five points.
In the Champions League, too, the start of the season failed completely. The Catalans conceded two hearty 0-3 claps in the first two games against FC Bayern and Benfica Lisbon.
