Johannes Lamparter with a double victory and Franz-Josef Rehrl with places two and three ensured a red-white-red “Super Sunday” at the Nordic Combined World Cup in Klingenthal. Lamparter was ahead of his compatriot in the first competition, which ended in the morning with Saturday’s postponed competition due to gusty winds. In the actual Sunday competition, just a few hours later, Lamparter struck a second time, this time in front of World Cup leader Jarl Magnus Riiber from Norway and Rehrl.
Lamparter celebrated his fifth and sixth individual World Cup victory. The Tyrolean got four of them in the German winter sports resort alone. With the unusual double coup, Lampartier moved up from fifth to second place in the overall World Cup standings, only 93 points behind Riiber.
“It’s simply one of my favorite places, it almost happens by itself,” said the Tyrolean, who is now pumped full of self-confidence for the home competitions in Seefeld next weekend. For the first time, the women are also represented there with two competitions.
