After just six months, Patrick Pentz’ commitment in Reims is likely to come to an end, at least for the time being: the 26-year-old is about to move to the Colorado Rapids on loan.
In the MLS he could collect the playing time that he was denied in the French league: After his free transfer from Austria Wien to Reims, Pentz started the season as number one. The man from Salzburg played seven games (one win, three draws, three defeats), and from the eighth round Yehvann Diouf was preferred to him.
The MLS will kick off at the end of February
Only the first game with the former French U21 team player was lost, since then Reims has gone eleven games unbeaten with the 24-year-old.
Pentz’s loan to Colorado is set to last six months. The MLS season kicks off on February 25, with Colorado visiting Seattle two days later. William Yarbrough was the Rapids’ first-choice goalkeeper last season. The 33-year-old played three times for the US team under coach Jürgen Klinsmann in 2015 and 2016.
