The Cologne team continued where they left off on Saturday in the 7-1 win over Bremen: Ellyes Shkiri gave the outsider the lead in Munich (4th). Bayern couldn’t think of much to break through the opponent’s defensive wall, in the 90th minute Joshua Kimmich saved Bayern at least one point with a long-range goal.
“The equalizer was deserved,” said Cologne’s Florian Kainz honestly in view of Bayern’s attack. The Styrian was not disappointed about the narrowly missed victory. “We played a good game.”
Laimer becomes a Munich resident
In the afternoon before the game, the “kicker” had spread the word that Konrad Laimer had signed the contract for his free transfer from Leipzig to Munich in the summer. In the evening, the 25-year-old came closer to Bayern in the table alongside Xaver Schlager in the 6-1 away win against Schalke: Leipzig are only four points behind.

After goals from Andre Silva (7th, 44th), Benjamin Henrichs (15th) and Timo Werner (45th + 2), the match was already decided at the break. Soichiro Kozuki scored the consolation goal for the home side (56′), before Leipzig scored twice more thanks to Dani Olmo (83′) and Yussuf Poulsen (89′).
Eleven Wolfsburg goals in two games
Wolfsburg were also in good shape three days after beating Freiburg 6-0: goals from Mattias Svanberg (4′), Maximilian Arnold (31’/penalty), Jonas Wind (34′), Ridle Baku (72′) and Omar Marmoush (86th) made it 5-0 at Hertha BSC. Patrick Wimmer provided the template for the first goal with a free kick and was substituted in the 70th minute.

His compatriot Christoph Baumgartner played through in Hoffenheim’s 2-2 draw against Stuttgart. Andrej Kramaric put the home side ahead in the eleventh minute and scored the final in the 94th minute. Goals from Serhou Guirassy (45’+5′) and Wataru Endo (77′) turned the game around in the meantime.
Five more Bundesliga games will take place on Wednesday, including the duel between Freiburg and Frankfurt. The winner of the game could become Bayern’s first pursuer, three points behind the record champions, and Union Berlin also has the chance to do so away against Bremen.
