The world record holder landed on Friday in Bad Mitterndorf in Styria at 233 meters, relegating the German Andreas Wellinger (+2.0 points) and Halvor Egner Granerud (NOR/+3.8) to places. A total of nine ÖSV eagles qualified for the first competition at the flight spectacle on Saturday (2:15 p.m./live ORF 1).
The physically ailing Manuel Fettner freaked out after the first training jump and still easily managed to qualify in 24th place. The second best ÖSV man was Kulm debutant Jan Hörl in eleventh, Ulrich Wohlmentioned (18th), Philipp Aschenwald (22nd), Maximilian Steiner (26th), local hero Francisco Mörth (28th), Markus Müller (32nd) and Clemens Leitner (33rd) made the elimination. Hannes Landerer, Markus Rupitsch, Maximilian Ortner and Stefan Rainer did not make it to the final.
The trio Michael Hayböck, Daniel Tschofenig and Clemens Aigner did not start at all because of flu symptoms.
