“It’s going to be a bike spectacle like no other,” enthuses Michael Gogl. The Wolfsegger, who has been involved in the Rad-World-Tour since 2015, means the cyclocross world championships taking place on Sunday in Hoogerheide in the Netherlands. There is a meeting between Mathieu van der Poel and Wout van Aert, who are big stars on the road and return to their roots off-road.
At the moment van der Poel is four to three in terms of the World Championship title, and he doesn’t want to lose sight of himself on his father’s home circuit. “The only thing that matters is how they are on the day. They’re in a league of their own,” says Gogl. The duo already fought several hot duels in the preparatory races for the World Cup.
