This became known on Friday before the team presentation of world champion Red Bull (at the first pictures of the car) in New York. The day before, media had reported that Ford will co-finance an engine that will be developed and manufactured by Red Bull Powertrains at its headquarters in Milton Keynes, England.

It is expected that Red Bull’s sister team AlphaTauri will also use Ford-branded engines. There has recently been speculation about a deal with Ford, which has an excellent reputation as an engine supplier in Formula 1 history.

The carmaker sold its team with the Jaguar brand to Red Bull in 2004, the reigning world champion is still based in the same plant in central England.

Linked to a tradition

“This is the start of an exciting new chapter in Ford’s motorsport history, which began when my great-grandfather won a race that launched our company”said Ford CEO Bill Ford, Henry Ford’s great-grandson.

“Ford returns to the forefront of the sport, bringing Ford’s long heritage of innovation, sustainability and electrification to one of the most visible stages in the world.”

Formula 1 Managing Director Stefano Domenicali was delighted: “Ford being in Formula 1 from 2026 is great for the sport”, he stated in a statement. Further details should be known on Friday when Red Bull presents its new car for the coming season in New York.
