Enzo Fernández fully approved his debut in an apathetic Chelsea

Fernández, 22, rounded off a good match at London’s Stamford Bridge due to the enormous expectations generated by his arrival at the London club, which paid 121 million euros to Benfica of Portugal for his token.

The world champion midfielder with Argentina in Qatar 2022, who wore the number “5” jersey, displayed his refined technique during the first half, with touches (59), duels won (7 of 8) and midfield recoveries ( 9).

In the second half, where Fulham evened the game, Enzo Fernández opened the scoring 26 minutes into the second half with a mid-range shot, after taking advantage of a rebound, which went very close to the post.

At the end of the game, the Argentine midfielder recorded 92% accurate passes.

Fernández, with only one practice on his back, finally started against Fulham, two days after his transfer from Lisbon to London was finalized, when he received the corresponding authorization.

With this match, Fernández raised a new level in his short but extraordinary career. He started at River Plate, the club he loves, and stood out in Defense and Justice before returning to the Núñez club, led by Marcelo Gallardo.

From River he went to Benfica in mid-2022 and his superlative level drew attention. His outstanding performances earned him the summons to the World Cup in Qatar, where he started as a substitute and after his intervention with a goal against Mexico, in the group stage, he earned a place among the starters.

On the London night, Enzo played like he had more than one season at his new club.

Chelsea drew their second straight goalless game and failed to reach the Europa League qualifying zone. Fulham kept the distance with Chelsea, its classic rival, and rose to sixth place in the Premier League.
