The Tyrolean won on Saturday ahead of the Norwegian Jens Luraas Oftebro and his teammate Franz-Josef Rehrl and celebrated his ninth success in the World Cup, the sixth this winter. Mario Seidl dropped from third to seventh place in cross-country skiing.

World champions Lamparter and Rehrl made use of their very good starting positions after the jumping that they had finished first and second. The Seefeld triple winner achieved a maximum distance of 139 m. On the trail, Rehrl, who had to start 15 seconds behind, quickly caught up with his 21-year-old compatriot. The two Austrians then ran together before Rehrl had to give up after around eight kilometers.

While Lamparter confidently ran to his third win in a row, the Styrian had to let Oftebro past in the finish. However, Rehrl defended third place against the German Julian Schmid and was happy about his fourth place on the podium this season. Martin Fritz in eleventh place and Lukas Greiderer in twelfth place ensured a strong team result. Stefan Settenegger was 14th.

Meanwhile, Norway’s top star Jarl Magnus Riiber, the German Olympic champion Vinzenz Geiger and the Japanese Ryota Yamamoto were not at the start. Another World Cup competition will take place in Oberstdorf on Sunday (from 10.15 a.m.).
