LASK kicks off the Bundesliga spring season in Altach next Sunday. Husein Balic, who came on as a substitute in the 87th minute of the quarter-finals of the Cup against Klagenfurt, could already be in the opponent’s squad three days before his 27th birthday: He completes his medical check-up with the Bundesliga competitor, a loan deal has been agreed.
During the winter break of the 2019/20 season, LASK brought the native of Linz from St. Pölten and outperformed Rapid. With strong performances, he recommended himself for the national team, in November 2020 Balic made his debut against Luxembourg (3-0) in the ÖFB team. Clubs like Southampton, Brentford, Celtic Glasgow and clubs from the MLS had dealt with him. But again and again small injuries slowed down the winger, so he lost his regular place at LASK.
Klose should get Balic going
Now Balic is making a new attempt in Altach. Under coach Miroslav Klose, World Cup record scorer, he should get going again. During the winter break, Altach lost the preparers for striker Atdhe Nuhiu. Amankwah Forson was called back from Salzburg on loan, while Stuttgart ended Alexis Tibidi’s loan deal to sell him to Troyes. Together with Marko Lazetic, who AC Milan parked in Vorarlberg, Balic should close the offensive gaps.
