The unusual color of the laundry, traditionally provided by outfitter Schöffel, remained a mystery after the first showing. The protagonists also puzzled. Franziska Gritsch assumed “beige”, while Ramona Siebenhofer guessed Dijon mustard. “Others have said it looks as if we’re about to go to the Golan Heights.”

On the Golan Heights in the Middle East, UN soldiers have been monitoring the ceasefire between Israel and Syria since 1974. Austria was also part of the mission until 2013 and soldiers were stationed in the area. In France these days, the ÖSV stars also want to attract attention in camouflage colors. “It’s something different, takes some getting used to at first, but it looks very good,” said Ricarda Haaser. Press spokeswoman Manuela Riegler got to know the outfitter and shortly thereafter had the answer to the color puzzle ready: sand drift.

According to ÖSV information, the racing suits remained in the proven combination of red and white. As well as the clothes of the coaches and officials. “The ÖSV also has to save,” explained Marko Pfeifer, the men’s racing director, with a wink.
